The Creator of Polimita

Biography

ROBERTO GARCIA MARQUEZ

S
ince childhood, Roberto Garcia Marquez has had a driving passion for drawing and painting which he has used to express himself throughout the years. At the tender age of 9 in Cuba, his native homeland country, he managed to occupy third place in an International Art Competition sponsored by the Government of India.
When Robert was 21 years of age, his twin brother, father and uncle managed to escape from Communist Cuba in a small boat. This boat, despite its size, made a huge 16 hour journey to the shores of Key West - for freedom, respect of human rights and an opportunity for a better life. The former secrecy and oppression of freedom due to a dictatorial Government in Cuba is one of the reasons that Roberto aspires to show his emotions through his work. I suppose that you could say that it was Robert's fate to be in the United States, since his birthday lands on the fourth of July.
In Roberto's works, you can see that his art reflects his life in a deeply personal way. His imagination carries us on a journey through his Cuban heritage, to the love of his family and his home by the sea. In his art he highlights the importance of life by making passionate colours of nature evident.
Today, Roberto Garcia Marquez (The Creator of Polimita) is a contemporary Cuban artist that prides himself in growing both spiritually and artistically; developing his maturity in his own authentic style.
Roberto has participated in numerous exhibitions in Florida and continues expanding his seed of knowledge in the world of the fine arts.
In an interview with Roberto Garcia Marquez, he states: "In my art, I represent the everyday encounters with nature and the human spirit. Many of my focus' are being surrounded by the beauty and mystery of love; for nature and for the love of the creator. My art expresses how I discover love and pleasure in each creation."
